Pie Corbett and I have been working together on a 5 term project (6 full days) for the Wroxham Transformative Learning Alliance.  It is called, ‘The Arts of Storytelling’ and incorporates Art, Music, Dance and Drama.  We will be starting the project again in 2017.  This year 35 schools have been involved, with 70 teachers each day.

Norfolk Children’s Book Centre – ‘Reading for Pleasure Conference’

I am delighted to be the MC at this great, annual Conference and also to be leading a Drama workshop this time, using Drama techniques to stimulate children’s reading and to support reading comprehension.

‘Drama as Embodied Cognition’ – my workshop at the Play Symposium in Stratford, Ontario

Really enjoyed working with international Drama specialist teachers, lecturers and actors at the Play Symposium at Stratford, Ontario.  My workshop was based on a visceral poem by Carol Ann Duffy, called ‘Haversham’.  Go to my Lessons page to access a free plan.

Toronto District School Board – my twilight

Yesterday, I led a 2 hour workshop in Toronto for teachers,  based on ‘The Tunnel’ by Anthony Browne.  Can’t resist sharing the picture of me below, with this wonderful children’s author.

Look in ‘Lessons’ and you will find I have uploaded a Drama lesson for ‘The Tunnel’.

Drama for Learning – a changing movement across Europe

  EU flag

I was recently invited to write an information piece, explaining ways in which I have worked with Drama in the EU.

I have worked in 11 countries in the EU with teachers, actors and academics and have participated in several EU funded arts projects, many conferences and several IDEA Europe  meetings.

Professionally,  my work in Europe has resulted in some strong  partnerships and lasting friendships.   I am unhappy that the UK has decided to leave the EU.

Drama in Norfolk…Suffolk…Cambridgeshire

DTTW logo

‘Drama for Thought, Talk and Writing’ is still underway in the East of England with various school hubs. I am currently working with partnerships of schools in Cambridgeshire and Norfolk.

After the initial, full training day, I go to each school and lead a class Drama lesson, with the class teacher working alongside me.  My second visit is to work alongside the class teacher in a Drama lesson that they lead.  We all get together for a planning meeting during the project and an evaluation meeting at the end.

Groups of schools, interested in being part of a new DTTW hub in 2016-17,  are welcome to email me at  patrice@patricebaldwin.com
